ILOILO City – Four people – three of them minors – were arrested for allegedly stealing scrap from a junkshop in Barangay Pakiad, Oton, Iloilo, a police report showed.
One of the suspects – Melvin Sta. Romana, 18, of Barangay Calajunan, Mandurriao district – was detained at the Oton police station.
The three minors were taken in custody by the Department Social Welfare and Development.
At around 7 a.m. on Sunday the 63-year-old Lilia Animas discovered some 250 kilos of scrap missing from her junkshop.
Animas sought help from the police, who arrested the four suspects while the latter were trying to escape, stated the police report.
The scrap were recovered from the suspects, police said./PN
