Saving lives

(Previously, PSN gatecrashes an AIDS/HIV seminar, argues for the use of buto and itut in sex talks, explains the current gonorrhea epidemic, and gets involved with a teenage pregnancy.)

I WAS WORRIED it would deform the unborn baby.

Five months.

That’s too late for an abortion.

I’m not for abortion.

But don’t they usually abort in the first trimester?

*

I hope to save the child.

I volunteered to talk to their parents.

He said No!

The girl has threatened to kill herself if the pregnancy is revealed.

*

I told him to talk to the girl again.

And they should tell their parents in three days.

If not, I’ll do it myself.

Even if against their wishes.

They can hate me all they want.

But I’ll hate them more if something bad happens to the young mother and/or to the unborn.

*

I ended up talking to the parents.

Yes, I betrayed the young couple’s confidence.

But I am an adult who knew.

I am not a priest in a confessional.

The boy got me involved in their problem.

You don’t ask Peter Solis Nery, Can I tell you something?

And just blurt out a pregnancy problem.

*

I am a nurse.

I report abuses, and suicide ideation/verbalization, plans, and threats.

They are children.

Under 18. Minors.

They cannot decide for themselves.

Much more for the unborn.

*

I had to do the responsible adult thing.

And thank God, so far, so good.

The pregnancy is now exposed.

The girl was brought to the OB-gyn clinic by her mom.

And is now receiving attention, prenatal vitamins and all.

*

It looks like disaster has been averted.

I don’t know.

But I told the mother, Right now, your daughter needs all your support.

Give her your unconditional love.

*

If you are mad at her, choke on it at the moment.

Once the baby is out, you can maim your daughter.

You can cripple her if you want.

Maybe she deserves it.

I don’t really care.

*

Just save the unborn, and the mother, for now.

No judgment, no blames.

Just love.

Just the Peter Solis Nery kind of love.

*

You can say ugly things about me.

You can disagree with my means of getting things done.

But there is something you can’t take away from me:

I save lives.

*

To you, I may be an arrogant assh*le.

To you, I may be vulgar, and out of control.

But people trust me.

A lot of people look up to me.

A lot of people continue to read me.

*

People do as I say.

Because they know I am smart.

They know I have a heart.

They know I will do the responsible things.

They know I will support them.

*

They know I save them.

And sometimes, save them from themselves.

Oh, righteous and virtuous one, what have you done?

*

So yeah, I don’t mind if I get a bad reputation for being “vulgar” if it saves at least one person from getting HIV/AIDS, or STI.

I don’t mind being called a seminar gatecrasher if I end up being most effective in the AIDS and HIV campaign.

And I don’t mind being hated if I get to save an unborn child.

*

Life has been good to me.

I don’t need any of these drama thrown at me.

But I love to get involved.

I want to do what’s right.

I want to save lives.

And rescue people from ignorance.

Thus, I continue to write. (500tinaga@gmail.com/PN)
