BACOLOD Tay Tung High School scored back-to-back victories to kick off its campaign in the Western Visayas leg of the girls 18-and-under Rebisco Volleyball League at the University of St. La Salle Gym in Bacolod City.
Led by Kiesha Bedonia and Katherine Shane Cortez, Tay Tung topped Pool A after sweeping Living Stones International School (25-6, 25-20) and Bingawan National High School (25-12, 25-11) on Tuesday.
Central Philippine University, meanwhile, lorded it over in Pool B with a 2-0 win-loss slate following wins against University of St. La Salle (24-26, 25-22, 25-20) and St. Johnâs Institute (25-16, 25-20).
âSo far, so good for us but we are still committing a number of errors in our first two matches,â said Tay Tung assistant coach Biboy Calamba. âWe still have to resolve that in our upcoming matches to retain the leg championship.â
Living Stones was able to bounce back later in the day as it cruised to a 25-21, 23-25, 25-20 victory over Silliman University behind the heroics of graduating hitter Krisha Cordero.
Palanguia National High School, on the other hand, split its matches â first, a victory over St. Johnâs Institute (25-23, 17-25, 25-11), and then a loss to St. Louis School of Don Bosco, Inc. (25-11, 25-17).
The Western Visayas leg winner will represent the region in the national finals later this year./PN
