SAN JOSE, Antique – Members of rescue groups in the province underwent a 16-day intensive training on search and rescue operations.
The Philippine Air Force (PAF) 505th Search and Rescue Group conducted the training, according to Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Broderick Train.
Train said PAF members helped in enhancing the skills of local rescuers.
“We requested for the PAF because they have the capabilities and are highly trained,” Train said on Monday.
The trainees came from six municipalities in Antique – Caluya, Libertad, Sibalom, Patnongon, San Jose, and Anini-y.
“There are 42 trainees who were able to finish their training,” Train added.
The training started Aug. 27. It ended on Tuesday.
It covered search and rescue operations in different situations like high angle, confined space, collapsed street, water, swift water, and vehicle extrication.
Pre-hospital treatment was also taught.
The PAF trainers were Technical Sergeants Alvin Joy Bacaltos and Luther Melo, and Staff Sergeants Joey Sanchez and Dancon Pascual. (With PNA/PN)
