‘Tokhang’ surrenderee falls in Aklan drug bust

KALIBO, Aklan – A man was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Mataphao, New Washington, Aklan.

The 41-year-old Darwin Relloso of Barangay Candelaria, New Washington was detained in the lockup cell of the New Washington police station.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 was filed against him.

Relloso – a surrenderee under the Philippine National Police’s “Oplan Tokhang” – was caught after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover police officer for P1,500 around 7:15 a.m. on Sept. 14.

Joint elements of the New Washington police station and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit staged the sting operation.

When frisked, Relloso yielded two more sachets of suspected shabu and P2,360 cash.

New Washington police chief Senior Inspector Benny Jones Mendoza said the suspect resisted arrest.

The municipal police chief also said Relloso’s house in Candelaria is used for illegal drug activities.
