Antique cops seize 925 loose firearms

SAN JOSE, Antique – A total of 925 unregistered firearms are now under the custody of the Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO).

These guns were either surrendered or seized under the “Tokhang Kontra Guinadilian nga Pusil” program, which was launched on July 23.

“The 478 firearms that had been deposited at the police stations while the owners are still working on their license renewal,” said APPO deputy director for operations Superintendent Norby Escobar.

Escobar added that the intensified police campaign against loose firearms has reduced the number of shooting incidents in Antique.

But he stressed that chiefs of police in the province’s 18 towns must keep the momentum to achieve their target to confiscate 3,061 loose guns by the end of the year. (With PNA/PN)
