Who won in Treñas’ mock election?

The 7th Division of Sandiganbayan issued a resolution dated Jan. 28 denying for lack of merit the motion that Cong. Geronimo “Jerry” Treñas filed seeking to dismiss a graft case against him.

ILOILO City – Who deserve to be in the slate of Cong. Jerry Treñas who is running for mayor next year?

With 17 probable candidates for city councilor, Treñas conducted what he called a “consensus voting” yesterday to determine the possible 12 he would be getting. He asked barangay captains and coordinators to vote.

Votes were also cast for congressman.

A source said 160 out of 180 barangay captains plus an undetermined number of barangay coordinators participated in the secret balloting.

According to Treñas’ ally Councilor Irene Ong (president of the Liga ng mga Barangay – Iloilo City federation), the congressman would be consulting other sectors before deciding who to include in his line-up.

The filing of certificates of candidacy for the May 2019 midterm elections is next month.

Peñaredondo, an ally of Treñas, wondered why the congressman would conduct a mock election.

“There must be some kind of standard kon paano makasulod abi sa line-up ni Congressman Treñas,” he said.

Peñaredondo, who is seeking reelection, said he is prepared in case he does not make it to Treñas’ line-up.

“Mangita ka sang lugar kon sa diin welcome ka eh,” he said./PN
