BACOLOD City – Vehicles can now easily pass Daniel Ramos Street near Burgos Market in Barangay 19 as a new regulation was imposed by the city government’s Market Coordinating and Monitoring Task Force.
Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda, head of the task force, said vendors who once did business on the street were provided with a 5-meter space from the gutter of the market.
Their transfer resulted in smooth traffic flow.
There was no problem enforcing the new regulation that aims to “beautify” the area as vendors were compliant. They voluntarily moved their stalls, added Pineda.
Barangay officials, the City Legal Office’s Enforcement Team and the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office also helped.
The regulation, which took effect on Thursday, affected about 180 vendors at Burgos Market.
Pineda said the same regulation will be imposed at Libertad Market./PN
