BACOLOD City – This capital city will soon have its evacuation center.

The construction of the P36-million structure is ongoing, according to City District Engineer Abraham Villareal.

Villareal said the construction began third week of September and is expected to be completed in seven to eight months.

The structure – which will be called the Bacolod City Evacuation Center – is situated on a 1,000-square-meter, city government-owned lot at the Relocation Site in Barangay Vista Alegre.

It is a project of the Department of Public Works and Highways Region 6.

The center – which will have eight buildings – will accommodate flood, fire and other calamity victims.

Villareal assured that the center’s construction has complied with all the requirements set by Department of Environment and Natural Resources and other agencies concerned./PN
