ILOILO City – The community outreach program “Pag-ulikid sang Syudad” will be covering all the 180 barangays of the city regardless of the political leanings of their barangay captains, stressed Mayor Jose Espinosa III.
The program does not choose which barangays to serve, he stressed as “Pag-ulikid” visited four more villages over the weekend – barangays Tacas and Balabago in Jaro district, Rizal Estanzuela in the City Proper and Dulonan in Arevalo.
“Ang tanan nga departamento sang syudad nagakadto sa barangay para magserbisyo sa inyo tanan,” Espinosa told over 2,500 residents in Barangay Tacas.
Free services rendered included medical checkup, tooth extraction and circumcision.
In Barangay Balabago, more than 3,000 residents availed themselves of the free services, including those with concerns over their birth certificates who were assisted by the staff of the City Civil Registry Office.
“Amo ina ang amon ginaubra – magkadto sa barangay – para ipakita nga ang inyo gobyerno sa syudad naga-ulikid gid sa inyo,” Espinosa told Barangay Balabago residents.
Identification cards for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) were also freely distributed.
In Barangay Rizal Estanzuela, over 4,000 residents were served while in Barangay Dulonan, 1,500.
“Sigesigehon naton ini – ang pag-ulikid sa mga kabarangayan,” said Espinosa.
Overall, more than 11,000 residents in the four barangays were served.
“Kinahanglan ang serbisyo sa pumuluyo ara. We don’t discriminate kun sin-o ang aton serbisyuhan,” said Espinosa. “This innovation will continue so long as we do not violate election rules and regulations.”
“Pag-ulikid” also included free legal consultation and distribution of sports equipment and wheelchairs to the youth sector and the elderly/PWDs, respectively.
Aside from the City Civil Registry Office, other city government departments actively participating were the City Health Office, Office of Senior Citizens Affairs and City Veterinary Office./PN
