KALIBO, Aklan – Only 16 of the 27 applicants will make it to the final cut of the 2019 Mutya it Kalibo Ati-Atihan.
The final screening for the pageant will be on the third week of October, said Kalibo Santo Niño Ati-Atihan Festival Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi) chairman Albert Menez.
The pageant – which is now on its ninth year – is among the side events of the annual Ati-Atihan Festival.
It is open to all Aklanon ladies. Non-Aklanon women who are studying in the province can also join.
Applicants must be 15 to 24 years old, single and must never have been married or have given birth. The minimum height limit is 5 feet and 4 inches.
A total of 27 ladies were able to submit their filled-up application forms at the Kasafi office in Capt. Gil Mijares Building near Pastrana Park before the deadline.
“This is the start of an exciting journey for our young women in Aklan [who want] to have the once-a-lifetime opportunity of becoming the next Mutya,” said Menez.
The applicants were Shenna Ellica Retiro, Francesca Beatriz Abalajon, Aicha Claudine Giddey, Richel Nobleza, Saira Mae Cabal, Angielyn Gumboc, Joan Nabiong, Maria Ramona Nieto, Melanie Quillano, Princess Shemiah Filomeno, Psyche Mae Katimpo, Mary Gladys Francisco, Rose Vayne Sadiasa, Mae Antonette Sim, Ma. Sofia Lourdes Olmido, Mayka Hayden Dano, Kyla Dela Rosa, Maricel Magbanua, Jamaina Vidal, Juliane Galino, Charina Canal, Maricar Joy Cuadoro, Jhenelyn Nagamos, Rieza Tejada, Shenna Adrien Pador, and Abbie Patricio.
The pageant’s coronation night will be on Jan. 11 next year at the Gov. Augusto B. Legaspi Sports and Cultural Center in this capital town.
There will be six categories – festival costume, evening gown, production number, on-stage interview, talent, and swimwear. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
