ILOILO City — The most wanted person in this capital city has finally fallen into the hands of the authorities.
Jorge Barcebas, 38, was arrested by intelligence personnel of the Iloilo City Police Office in his house on Zamora St., City Proper.
A suspected drug dealer, Barcebas has been wanted for shooting to death Fernando “Paco” Defensor on November 17 last year.
Defensor was walking along Zamora–Melliza streets at the Waterfront area in City Proper at around 7 p.m. when Barcebas peppered him with bullets.
There were two other suspects in the murder case.
Intelligence policemen led by Senior Insp. Donnel Regis spotted Barcebas on Thursday evening.
The suspect tried to escape, but the policemen caught up with him and collared him at around 10:35 p.m.
Regis and his men served him an arrest warrant for murder issued by Judge Antonio Natino of Regional Trial Court Branch 26.
Barcebas is also facing charges for homicide and possession of illegal drugs.
Barcebas and his two brothers, Jhelon and Jeylord, were among alleged illegal drug dealers at the Waterfront area here.
Jhelon, Jeylord and their older brother, Joel, have been detained in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility.
Barcebas eluded arrest on December 7 last year when the police raided his house and found unlicensed guns, explosives and illegal drugs.
He was detained in the lockup cell of Iloilo City Police Station 1 after his arrest on Thursday evening./PN
