MANILA – Unaffected by the long layoff, Green Archers United-Iloilo Team B scored 4-0 against Manila Star Agilas in the PFF Youth Football League U-15 at the Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa City.
Playing for the first time since Sept. 4, GAU-Iloilo did not show any rustiness as Francis Botavara, Kent de la Peña, James Tuazon, and Japjap Baito made a conversion each.
The victory let GAU-Iloilo return to solo first place in the standings with 13 points.
Botavara opened the scoring for GAU-Iloilo on Saturday in the fourth minute as he slotted in a penalty with a left foot lowball shot to the left side of the net to confuse the keeper of Manila Stars.
GAU-Iloilo added up to their lead early in the second half with de la Peña pushing the ball forward in a diagonal direction and took a powerful right foot shot, hitting the lower right portion of the net.
Minutes later GAU-Iloilo notched their third conversion as Tuazon pushed the ball to the right side of the small box and took a right foot shot, hitting the net’s right side middle portion.
The Ilonggos went for the kill in the 67th minute with Baito taking a hard left foot strike, hitting the lower center of the net from a through pass by Tuazon./PN
