Blind woman dies in house fire

BACOLOD City – She was killed in a fire that gutted their house in Barangay Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

The 87-year-old Pacencia Pilar – a person with disability – was not able to leave the house when the blaze started around 8 a.m. on Friday.

Pilar is blind due to diabetes and cannot walk due to old age, Fire Officer 2 Reymon Clamano said.

Her sister who takes care of her was not at their house at the time of the fire. She was out doing laundry.

Clamano said the fire came from the kitchen.

Due to the narrow way leading to the house, fire responders had a hard time putting out the blaze.

The Bureau of Fire Protection estimated the damage the fire left at P80,000./PN
