Bacolod honors late ex-vice mayor

BACOLOD City – The city government gave “honor and recognition” to the late Wilmar “Boy” Drilon for his significant contributions to Bacolod as vice mayor and councilor.

Mayor Evelio Leonarida, through an executive order, directed all government offices, public schools and other buildings in the city to lower their flags at half-staff in mourning of Drilon’s death.

The order took effect on Oct. 13.

The 76-year-old Drilon died due to septic shock at the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City on Oct. 12.

“Drilon was my first vice mayor [from 1995 to 1998] and he left an indelible mark of friendliness and cordiality. He was the kind who had almost everybody as his friend,” said Leonardia.

He added that the late local official was an “effective, efficient, and reliable public servant.”

“Bacolod has lost a public servant, an outstanding citizen and a friend of the people,” Leonardia stressed./PN
