Firearms, grenade seized in Pototan, Pavia

ILOILO City – Police recovered firearms and an explosive in separate operations in Pototan and Pavia tows in Iloilo province.

Officers wielding a warrant searched the house of Larry Pagulong in Barangay Nabitasan, Pototan at around 2 a.m. Saturday.

They found a homemade .38 revolver with two bullets, a police report showed.

The officers arrested the 42-year-old resident and detained him at the Pototan police station.

Pagulong faces charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Judge Vicente Go of the Regional Trial Court Branch 68 issued the warrant.

In Barangay Ungka II, Pavia, resident Leo De Fiesta was arrested by the municipal police at around 8:50 p.m. last Thursday.

Officers who searched his house found a hand grenade, a .45 pistol, a magazine, and live ammunition, a police report showed.

The Pavia police took De Fiesta in custody. The resident may face a charge for violation of Republic Act 9516.

Judge Victorino Oliveros Maniba Jr. of the Regional Trial Court Branch 39 issued the warrant./PN
