BACOLOD City – The recent “surprise” drug test at the Metro Bacolod District Jail-Male Dormitory (MBDJ-MD) yielded negative results.
It was the third joint operation the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted at the MBDJ-MD in line with “Oplan Linis Piitan.”
Oplan Linis Piitan is the government’s intensified crackdown on contrabands like illegal drugs and deadly weapons inside jail facilities.
The drug test at the MBDJ-MD targeted 200 inmates and 33 jail personnel.
Jail Warden Chief Inspector Ruth Estales said it aims to ensure that no inmates or jail personnel were using or selling prohibited drugs.
A greyhound operation was also conducted. It ensures that no contrabands made it inside the jail facility.
Lighters, ball pens, metal spoon and fork, nail cutter, bamboo sticks, mirror, and blade were among the items seized in the operation.
Estales said the items recovered this time were lesser compared to that in previous operations.
She attributed this to their regular cell inspections conducted twice a week. (With a report from PIA/PN)
