14 NegOcc exhibitors join Manila FAME 2018

BACOLOD City – A total of 14 exhibitors from Negros Occidental will showcase their products at the 2018 Manila FAME held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City from Oct. 19 to 21.

Manila FAME: Furnishings and Apparel Manufacturers’ Exchange is a bi-annual showcase of craftsmanship, design innovation, and artisanship in Philippine products held every April and October.

The participants from Negros Occidental include the City Government of Kabankalan and 13 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Mae Buaron, senior trade and industry development specialist of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Negros Occidental, said Kabankalan City will feature the products of Fr. Bryan Gore of Negros Nine and those of weavers of Barangay Oringao.

Seven exhibitors will display locally-made products at the Artisan Village of Negros Occidental sponsored by the provincial government.

These include Yssa’s Craft, Babylan’s Coco Craft, Negros Silk Association, Elle Ge Garments, Ynes Moda Infantile, Apolonio Nature Farm, and Alter Trade Corp.

Six other Negrense MSMEs – Hacienda Crafts, Silay Export Inc., Artisana Island Craft, PLV Trading, Tumandok Craft Industries, and Creative Definition – will showcase their products in other booths at the World Trade Center.

“These MSMEs under different sectors are assisted by DTI through various trainings, like product development. Manila FAME will be their second market testing after the recent 33rd Negros Trade Fair,” Buaron said.

The provincial government funded the exhibitors’ participation fee, freight cost, booth rentals, and plane fare, among other expenses, she added.

Now on its 68th year, the Manila FAME aims to promote the Philippines as a reliable sourcing destination for high-quality home, fashion, holiday, architectural and interior pieces.

Organized by the DTI, through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, the country’s premier lifestyle and design event shows support for MSMEs as they present their masterpieces to the global exports market. (PNA)
