BACOLOD City – The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital is asking “patience and understanding” from the public amid the overcrowding in the healthcare facility.
The hospital said it is trying to resolve the problem, which affects its delivery of services to patients.
From Oct. 19 to 21, the hospital catered to about 835 inpatients. Its holding capacity is only 400.
The hospital added that 207 to 213 percent of its bed occupancy rate is used, double of its authorized bed capacity.
Medical Center chief Dr. Julius Drilon said bed sharing of two to four patients is observed in the different wards of the hospital.
“We strive hard in rendering quality medical care services to our patients with our healthcare providers doing their best to provide the most compassionate service despite the current nurse to patient and doctor to patient ratio, which is far from ideal,” Drilon added.
The hospital has also estimated an increase in admissions as seasonal diseases – like dengue and pneumonia – are expected to rise in the coming months.
Drilon hopes the national government to qualify the hospital as a 1,000-bed capacity hospital. (With PIA/PN)
