DE LA Salle University Lady Spikers cruised to a 2-0 start in the 2018 Philippine University Games women’s volleyball at the Foundation University Yellow Gym in Dumaguete City.
Led by veterans Ernestine Tiamzon, May Luna, Norielle Ipac, and Michelle Cobb, the Lady Spikers easily disposed of University of San Agustin of Iloilo City in three sets 25-14, 25-6, 25-15 Tuesday.
Also showing the way for the two-time defending UAAP women’s volleyball champions were rookies Jolina Dela Cruz, Thea Allison Gagate, Baby Jane Soreno, and Marionne Alba.
University of the Philippines Lady Maroons also registered their second consecutive victory as they walloped University of Mindanao-Davao in straight-sets 25-12, 25-14, 25-12.
Maria Lina Molde, Roselyn Rosier and Marian Buitre continue to blossom for the reigning PVL Collegiate Conference titlist with help from newcomers Nicole Magsarile and Lorie Lyn Bernardo.
National University Lady Bulldogs, meanwhile, got timely shots from Ilongga Princess Robles, Risa Sato and Roselyn Doria to waylay fellow UAAP squad University of the East Lady Warriors in five thrilling sets.
In men’s volleyball at the Valencia City Gymnasium, University of Santo Tomas Tiger Spikers registered their second straight win at the expense of University of Perpetual Help-Biñan 25-22, 25-15, 26-24./PN
