ILOILO – The reelection bids of the municipal mayors of Ajuy, Banate and Cabatuan are a walk in the park. Having no opponents they are assured of victory in the May 13, 2019 midterm elections.
These mayors are Ajuy’s Jett Rojas (Nacionalista Party), Banate’s Carlos Cabangal Jr. (Nacionalista Party) and Cabatuan’s Ronilo Caspe (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan).
Rojas and Cabangal are both seeking second consecutive terms while Caspe is gunning for a third straight term.
In the race for vice mayor, four reelectionists are sure winners for having no opponents. They are Vicente Flores Jr. of Oton; Ma. Theresa “Matet” Debuque of Anilao; Robert Villaruz of Ajuy; and Virgilio Teruel of Tigbauan. All are candidates of the Nacionalista Party.
In the municipality of Pavia, the candidate for vice mayor, Sangguniang Bayan member Edsel Gerochi, is a sure winner, too, being the sole candidate for the post.
Gerochi is also a member of the Nacionalista Party.
This early, Mayor Rojas of Ajuy thanked his constituents for allowing him and running mate Villaruz to serve them again.
Cabatuan’s Mayor Caspe, meanwhile, said, “Nakita guro sang mga tawo nga wala kapin kag kulang ang akon pagserbisyo.”
“Kon kinahanglan nila ako, visible ako katama. Ari lang ako sa opisina. Sa mga okasyon nagakadto man ako,” added Caspe.
He vowed to continue developmental projects such as concreting barangay roads, improving the public plaza and building a public market.
Caspe also said the education of young Cabatuahanons would be prioritized, especially those in college, through scholarships./PN
