BACOLOD City – Is an underpass covering CL Montelibano Avenue and the circumferential road feasible? The Department of Public Works and Highways is studying it.
Primarily the 600-meter structure is aimed at addressing traffic congestion here.
If it materializes, it will be first of its kind in Western Visayas, said District Engineer Abraham Villareal of the DPWH’s Bacolod City District Engineering Office.
The DPWH tapped the consulting firm United Technologies Consolidated Partnership to conduct the feasibility study.
Lea Delfinado, director of the agency’s Bureau of Design, and the United Technologies presented the proposed project to Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Rep. Greg Gasataya at the DPWH office here Thursday.
It was Gasataya who requested for the feasibility study for the project estimated to cost some P1.1 billion, Villareal said.
During the presentation, the congressman asked the agency and the consulting firm to cover Burgos Street, too.
The feasibility study may be completed by the end of February next year, Villareal said./PN
