Son suspect in mother’s brutal death in Sipalay

BACOLOD City – No less than her son was a suspect in the brutal death of a 63-year-old woman in Sitio Talaptap, Barangay Cabadiangan, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

Gloria Eseng, a widow, had been struck with a spade, dragged into their comfort room and burned, said Chief Inspector Anthony Grande, Sipalay police head.

Police identified the suspect Eseng’s son Roland, 42. They have arrested and detained him at the Sipalay City police station.

From what police investigators have gathered, the widower was suffering from a mental illness. Police were filing a parricide charge against him.

Eseng was sitting with her grandchildren Resha Mea Velasco, 7, and Ren John Velasco, 6, in their house at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday when attacked.

Her unconscious body was then dragged to the comfort room some 5 meters away from the house and burned, police investigation showed./PN
