BACOLOD City – Three men were convicted for the murder of Judge Henry Arles in Barangay Manalad, Ilog, Negros Occidental in 2012.
Alejandro Capunong, Eddie Fortunado and Jessie Daguia were suspected members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army, or RPA.
Judge Editha Mina Aguba of the Regional Trial Court Branch 100 in Quezon City found them guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
They were sentenced with reclusion perpetua without potential parole.
Arles was driving home to Barangay Dancalan, Ilog on April 24, 2012 when ambushed by the motorcycle-riding suspects. Daguia was the alleged gunman.
The suspects were hired by someone to kill the judge but they have not named the mastermind, court records showed.
There were three other suspects – Marvin Salde, Rustom Coro and Gerald Tabujara. They remained at large as of this writing./PN
