MANILA – Generika-Ayala Lifesavers cruised to its second straight win in the 2018 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference by taking down Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors, 25-7, 25-11, 25-21.
Bacolodnon Patty Jane Orendain led the way with 16 points on Thursday night at the San Juan Arena.
Marivic Meneses and Angeli Araneta also had 11 markers apiece for the Lifesavers, which improved to 2-3 win-loss slate.
After a dominant first two sets, the Lifesavers were forced to a tight exchange by the Lady Realtors in the third set with the score tied at 10-all before pulling to a 16-11 advantage.
The Lifesavers were already at set point at 24-19 but they surrendered two points to the Lady Realtors on errors. Orendain then finished off the match for the Lifesavers with an attack.
“Kailangan pa namin iangat ‘yung record namin para mas maganda ang pwesto namin sa quarters. Marami pa kami titiyagain sa mga susunod na game,” said Lifesavers head coach Sherwin Meneses.
In the first game, Smart Giga Hitters eked out a 26-16, 18-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11 victory over Cocolife Asset Managers to step back on the winning track.
Gretchel Soltones played like a grizzled veteran down the stretch to power the Giga Hitters to their second win in four games. She finished with 17 points to go along with 16 digs and 25 excellent receptions.
In the other match, F2 Logistics Cargo Movers also got back on the winning track after handing Foton Tornadoes its first loss of the conference, 25-15, 25-13, 25-13.
Victorinara Galang led the way with 14 points for the Cargo Movers./PN
