ILOILO City – Eight plastic packs of suspected shabu were seized from a construction worker during an antidrug operation Thursday in Barangay Trapiche, Oton, Iloilo.
The 39-year-old Oliver Torcuator, resident of the same village, denied owning the substance. He said he was just waiting for a garbage truck when arrested.
“Bago ako gindakpan gabantay kami sang truck sang basura kay ginsugo kami ni Kap,” the suspect, detained at the Oton police station, told Panay News.
“Kada Huwebes gapang-collect ako sang basura da sa amon sa Trapiche. Gahulat man lang ako sang bagon nga mag-abot,” he added.
But the police had a different story.
Torcuator sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer for P700 at around 8 a.m.
The arresting officers searched him and found seven more sachets of the same substance, P1,040 and a mobile phone.
“Indi na akon, pero subong indi ko naman mapanginwala kay sa akon nila na-recover,” said Torcuator. “Pero sa tuod lang wala ko ga-intra sa mga amo sini. Biskan ipa-drug test pa ako nila.”
Torcuator faces charges for violation of sections 5 (selling) and 11 (possession) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Operatives from the Oton police station and the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit of the Police Regional Office 6 staged the operation./PN
