Farmer shoots grandson over land dispute

LAMBUNAO, Iloilo — A 60-year-old farmer is the subject of a police manhunt, allegedly for trying to kill his grandson in Brgy. Dalid, this town, over a land dispute.

Arnolfo Lastimosa of said place will be charged with frustrated murder for shooting the victim, Antonio Loloy, 45, on Friday night.

According to Ruditha, wife of Loloy, the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. while the victim was passing by the suspect’s house.

“My husband greeted his lolo,” she told the police, “but instead of replying, he shot him.”

The victim is now confined at the Western Visayas Medical Center.

The misunderstanding between Lastimosa and Loloy family is believed to have begun when the owner of a piece of land they were both tilling died.

Both claim to be the rightful heir of the farm./PN
