Prov’l transport survey Dec. 3-29

ILOILO – To determine the public transport supply and identify specific public transport supply gaps within the province, the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) of the provincial government will conduct a transport survey from Dec. 3 to 29

PPDO hired enumerators or planning assistants to conduct the survey. They will be randomly deployed to various transport routes to record the volume of passengers and give short questionnaires to the passengers.

There will be enumerators or planning assistants who will conduct interviews on drivers, transport groups and operators while others will be deployed on road sides to conduct traffic volume count survey.

Other enumerators will distribute household interview questionnaires to residents of the province.

The conduct of the transport survey is in preparation for the creation of a Provincial Public Transport and Route Plan which is in compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Department Order No. 2017-11 or the “Omnibus Guidelines on the Planning and Identification of Public Road Transportation Services and Franchise Issuance.”

The preparation of the plan is also based on the mandate of the local government unit to provide adequate, effective, and efficient transportation facilities for better access and mobility of its people in pursuing socio-economic activities.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. and the Iloilo provincial government is asking for the cooperation of the public to ensure the success of the transport survey. (ECG, Capitol News/PN)
