MANILA – For towing their teams to the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup finals, Alaska Aces’ Mike Harris and Magnolia Hotshots’ Romeo Travis were the frontrunners in the conference’s Best Import race.

Harris, a former NBA player with Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz, was leading the way with averages of 30.31 points, 20.69 rebounds, 2.81 assists, 1.13 steals, and 1.00 blocks per outing.

Travis, who was eyeing his second PBA Best Import plum, was not far behind with averages of 24.5 markers, 14.8 boards, 4.81 assists, and 2.0 steals until the end of the semifinal round.

While reigning two-time Governors’ Cup Best Import winner Allen Durham and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings’ Justin Brownlee were close behind, winning the individual plum was a long shot, with their teams bowing out in the semifinals.

Completing the list of contenders were Phoenix Fuel Masters’ Eugene Phelps, NLEX Road Warriors’ Aaron Fuller and former NBA veteran Henry Walker of Blackwater Elite.

The final determining factor on who wins the award will be the balloting among players, sports media and the PBA Commissioner’s Office.

The winners of the Best Import award and the Best Player of the Conference award will be announced during the Finals series between the Aces and the Hotshots that starts Wednesday, Dec. 5./PN
