BACOLOD City – A widower was hacked to death by his neighbor around 6 a.m. Monday in Sitio Lantoy, Barangay Tara, Mabinay, Negros Oriental.
Police identified the victim as Eddie Alberto Caiso, 42, widower and resident. The victim was hacked by the suspect several times, sustaining wounds to different parts of his body.
The suspect was identified by police as Jovie Oracoy Decon, 40, also resident of the town.
Decon surrendered to the Mabinay police on Tuesday accompanied by kagawad Ben Cayetano, barangay kagawad of Dagbasan, Mabinay; and Lutgardo Aboso of Barangay Tara, also in the town.
An investigation revealed that the victim habitually pastured his carabao on the land cultivated by the suspect, which may have led to the violent confrontation.
The wounded Caiso was found by his family early Monday morning. They tried to rush him to the nearest hospital but he died upon reaching Sitio Danawan in same barangay./PN
