NegOcc LGUs get P8.4-M projects

BACOLOD City – A total of nine cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental received P8.4-million worth of projects from the provincial government between September and December this year.

The latest recipient was Candoni town. It was released checks for a total of P2 million covering projects in six barangays.

Mayor Cicero Borromeo joined the officials of the beneficiary-barangays who received the checks from Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. at the provincial capitol on Tuesday.

He thanked the provincial government for funding the projects that will benefit many residents of Candoni.

The financial assistance included P250,000 for the improvement of the multi-purpose hall in Barangay East; P300,000 for the rehabilitation of the water system in Barangay Gatuslao; P300,000 for the rehabilitation of Barangay West Hall; P350,000 for the concreting of the cemetery road area in Barangay Banga; P500,000 for the roofing of multi-purpose hall bleachers in Barangay Cabia-an; and P300,000 for the construction of a water system in Barangay Haba.

In October, the cities of Sagay and Cadiz and the municipalities of Hinigaran and La Castellana also received of P2-million worth of projects.

The recipients were Barangay Vito in Sagay City, which obtained PP1.2 million for the improvement and expansion of its water system; Barangay Cabahug in Cadiz City, which received P300,000 for the establishment of the Cabahug Elementary School perimeter fence; Barangay Cabacungan in La Castellana, which got P300,000 for the acquisition of a multi-purpose mini dump truck; and Barangay Aranda in Hinigaran, which secured P200,000 for the renovation of its barangay hall.

In September, the recipients of P4.419 million in project assistance were the municipalities of Calatrava and Toboso, and the cities of Sagay and Escalante.

Calatrava’s barangays Minapasok and Mina-utok received P1.05 million and P687,000, respectively, for mobility services for emergency and disaster preparedness projects.

Toboso was given a total of P1.5 million for the construction of a multi-purpose building in Barangay Bandila; rehabilitation of water systems in barangays General Luna, San Isidro, and Tabun-ac; and purchase of multi-purpose vehicle for barangays Magticol and Bug-ang.

Sagay City received P852,499 for the concreting of the road in Barangay Himoga-an Baybay.

In Escalante City, the recipients were Aliwanay Farmworkers Association, with P80,000 for a sustainable food production project, and Cervantes Seaweeds and Mangrove Association, with P250,000 for sustainable fishery productivity project. (PNA)
