SAN JOSE, Antique – Police officers in Antique were reminded to avoid getting drunk and indiscriminately firing their service weapons during the holiday season.
Officers should not let themselves get carried away with the vibe of parties, according to Superintendent Norby Escobar.
Any misbehavior will put their jobs at stake, said the deputy director for operations of the Antique Police Provincial Office.
“Policemen are now receiving higher salaries. They have to be careful not to lose their employment,” Escobar said Monday, addressing the around 800 men and women in uniform across Antique.
Intoxication could push officers to commit behaviors or activities that could be punishable by dismissal from the service, said Escobar.
“I always remind our police personnel to be careful with what they are doing,” he said.
The APPO, once ordered by the Police Regional Office 6, will cover the muzzles of service firearms with tape to prevent indiscriminate firing.
“We are glad that there has been no case of indiscriminate firing involving police officers that happened in Antique yet,” Escobar said.
Similar cases that involved officers led to the latter’s dismissal from the service, said the policeman. (With PNA/PN)
