BACOLOD City – The provincial government through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) has launched the Farm Mechanization Program of the province in Purok Camingawan Proper, Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. led the launching with the OPA and barangay officials.
“This program is intended for Negrense farmers to be able to make their work easier and faster and at the same time increase their production,” Marañon said.
Myrna Villa, chairperson of the Newton-Camingawan-Para (NECAPA) Farmers’ Association thanked Marañon for the mechanization program that will be made available for their member-farmers.
Meanwhile, Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo said he is happy that the Governor is giving importance to farming and agriculture, considering that the rice production is the leading industry in Bago
Marañon added that Bago has been the pilot area for the farm mechanization program, and such will also be replicated in other local government units.
Negros Occidental provincial agriculturist Atty. Japhet Masculino, and other OPA officials also distributed hybrid rice among the farmers. (PIA/PN)
