SHE may already be considered a superstar in the Philippines.
But the desire to achieve something even bigger is still burning within Anne Curtis, more so now after she was recognized as one of the most promising Asian talents of the past year by Variety.
The US-based magazine teamed up with the International Film Festival and Awards in Macao to present Curtis, along with four other actors from the region, with the Asian Star: Up Next award.
The ceremony was held at Macao Cultural Center in Macau, China.
On Instagram Saturday, Curtis recalled the prestigious moment and said that the award will serve as her inspiration to do her best in acting and pursue her biggest dreams.
“I dedicate this to all the Filipino filmmakers and actors who continue to work hard to make films that are not only appreciated by our fellow Pinoys but also appreciated by the global audience,” she wrote.
In its profile of Curtis, Variety highlighted her role in “BuyBust,” the acclaimed action film directed by Erik Matti that became the first-ever Pinoy feature to be acquired by Netflix.
“Sid & Aya (Not A Love Story)” and the horror film “Aurora,” an entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2018, were also mentioned.
Last year, Variety named Piolo Pascual as one of the 10 recipients of the Asian Star: Up Next award. (ABS-CBN News)
