AKLANON bet Cherry May Regalado took home a silver medal during the 18th World Pencak Silat Championship on Saturday at the Singapore Sports Hub’s OCBA Arena.

The Kalibo, Aklan native, a bronze medalist during the Asian Games last August in Indonesia, captured her silver medal when she placed second in the Tunggal Puti event

“I am still thankful with this medal because I know I did my best during the competition,” said Regalado.

It was the fourth medal of the Aklanon beauty queen-athlete this year after she captured gold medals in the 18th Asian Games Invitational Tournament and 9th UPSI International Silat Championship 2018 earlier this year.

Aside from Regalado, the trio of Jefferson Rhey Loon, James El Mayagma, and Rich Rod Ortega also delivered a silver medal for the Philippines in the Regu Putra event.

Around 300 athletes from over 40 countries are competing in the four-day tournament that started on December 13 and was being hosted by Singapore for the first time since 1988./PN
