Who shot ‘kagawad’?

BACOLOD City – Police were facing a blank wall on the fatal shooting of the No. 1 kagawad of Barangay Dian-ay, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

Maximo “Dodong” Talbo Jr., 35, was found dead at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday in Hacienda Esperanza, Sitio Kinalumsan, Barangay Poblacion 1, Sagay City, said Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez Jr.

Talbo sustained gunshot wounds on the back and head.

Talbo’s father, Maximo Sr., was a former village chief of Barangay Dian-ay, Escalante City.

A hacienda overseer, Absarey Subong, found the bullet-riddled body of Talbo on top of the latter’s motorcycle. His cellphone and wallet were missing. An empty shell of a .45 pistol was found there, too.

According to his wife, Elvira, Talbo left their house at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday for Escalante City to get a tarpaulin. By 5 p.m., he was already out of reach.

Talbo was engaged in water refilling and sand and gravel businesses.

He usually comes home not later than 9 p.m. and passes by Sagay City, Elvira said.

Police were still investigating the incident to determine the motive./PN
