BACOLOD City – Police were hunting a village watchman who faces an indiscriminate firing charge in Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
The 40-year-old Roger Aligarbes, a tanod of Barangay Dolis in Calatrava, was complained after he fired his .38-caliber gun, hitting his 18-year-old neighbor.
Raymart Caniendo sustained a gunshot wound on the right leg, a police report showed.
He was rushed to the Calatrava District Hospital for medical treatment.
The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 26. The neighborhood was having a Christmas party at the time.
According to the police, Aligarbes was having a drinking binge with his friends when he showed off his gun.
He attempted to shoot it pointing upward but the gun did not fire. When he tried to fire it again, pointing downward, he hit Caniendo.
Aligarbes fled after the incident. The police launched a manhunt against him./PN
