BACOLOD City – A radio broadcaster in a local FM station in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental was shot to death in La Libertad town.
Police have yet to arrest the suspects in shooting the 60-year-old Gabriel Alburo, who also filed a certificate of candidacy for city councilor in the upcoming 2019 midterm elections.
Alburo – called by his peers “Commander Aguila” – works at DYJL 94.5 Like Radio. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the body.
La Libertad municipal police chief Senior Inspector Danilo Santillan said Alburo was on his way home from a cock derby on Dec. 28 when he got shot.
From what the police gathered so far, the suspects were other derby bettors who had a heated argument with Alburo.
Recovered from the crime scene were 11 empty shells of a .45-cliber firearm, police said./PN
