TEAM Elite and San Miguel bagged the championships in the women’s and men’s categories of the Leon December Open Invitational Volleyball Cup 2018 Season 2 in Leon, Iloilo.
Led by MVP awardee Kian Ceballos and Krystl Lou Capilastique, Team Elite came up with a strong showing in the finals to defeat University of San Agustin.
Santo Cristo Parochial School claimed the third place finish.
Ceballos, sister of Generika-Ayala Lifesavers star Fiola Ceballos, was also named as 1st Best Outside Hitter aside from her MVP trophy, while Capilastique was hailed as the 1st Best Opposite Spiker.
Other members of the Team Elite were Angeline Cabalo (best server), Denden Tamesin (1st best middle hitter), Donna May Corcolla, Gerlie Cantara, Jemima Camit, Kleitz Louise Cain, Hannah Cabrobias, and Ivy lie Calumay.
Also given award were Maryiel Maglupay (2nd best outside hitter), Lyca Molina (2nd best middle hitter), Ana Marie Sabarillo (best libero) and Muriel Candaganan (best setter).
Team San Miguel, on the other hand, bagged the men’s category championship after defeating San Agustin.
Angels team took home the third place trophy. Deo Amparado was named as MVP for San Miguel.
The three-day volleyball tournament was spearheaded by Leon Volleyball Association headed by Alma Cagalitan Capilastique and Sangguniang Kabataan council of Barangay Poblacion in coordination with LGU of Leon and Brgy Poblacion council./PN
