ILOILO City – Several candidates in the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang (MID) 2019 harvested awards in several preliminary activities prior to the grand pageant night on Jan. 25.
These awards could be barometers of potential winners during the coronation night at Casa de Emperador, Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao district. The competition appears stiff among 15 young women.
In the swimwear competition on Dec. 10, 2018 at Richmonde Hotel Iloilo, the following won awards:
* Elaine Segura of Guimbal, Iloilo – Miss Physique
* Sharone Idone of Arevalo, Iloilo City – Miss Swimwear Model
* Maria Cielito Corazon Abendan of La Paz (Central), Iloilo City – Miss Pristine Beauty
In the Q and A (Question and Answer) preliminary competition on Dec. 16, 2018 at Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo, four were declared winners:
* Claudette del Castillo of Passi City – Advocacy Princess
* Maria Mikhaella Incensario of Miag-ao, Iloilo – Q and A Princess
* Elaine Segura – Press and Media Princess
* Berylane Joy Barredo of Molo, Iloilo City – Style Princess
In a “lifestyle fashion show” at SM City Iloilo South Point on Dec. 19, 2018, the following bagged awards:
* Berylane Joy Barredo of Molo, Iloilo City – Beauty and Talent Princess
* Charlotte Mananquil of Zarraga, Iloilo – Inspirational Princess
* Vina Marie Soriano Peña of Oton, Iloilo – Princess of Beauty and Heart
In the Travel and Holiday Princess category, the candidates were grouped into three and three winners were awarded per category.
Sueko Laoso Kinjho of the City Proper, Beatrice Arabia of Mandurriao district and Angelic Olmedo of Leganes, Iloilo were adjudged as Travel Princesses.
Meanwhile, Sharon Idone of Arevalo, Claire Therese Porras of the City Proper and Trisha Jane Quingking of Estancia, Iloilo were named Holiday Princesses.
The Miss Iloilo Dinagyang beauty pageant is one of the highlights of the annual Dinagyang Festival.
This year, the Dinagayang main event – the ati-ati tribes competition – will be on Jan. 27./PN
