MARCO Gumabao clarified that he and Janella Salvador do not talk to each other that much anymore following earlier reports that they are supposedly dating.
“It’s so hard to explain because for us, we were just friends. I never told her na I like her. She never told me na she likes me. Nung lumabas ‘yung video, nagulat kami na everyone thinks na we are dating na, so we took a step back,” he said on the Wednesday episode of “Tonight with Boy Abunda.”
When asked hypothetically if he would have continued pursuing Salvador had things not been blown out of proportion, Gumabao only had one thing to say.
“From that point kasi, we were just starting to get to know each other. Nung lumabas ‘yung video, people were assuming na agad na we were dating. Wait lang, we are still here but people are saying nagde-date na talaga kami,” he said.
Gumabao said he was surprised when a lot of people made false assumptions just because of what came out on social media.
“Maraming wrong na nasabi ‘yung fans. A lot of people assumed na we were dating. Magkakagrupo kami. I was with my cousin also, si Barbie Imperial. We were one group. Ang daming nagba-bash sa akin. Ahas daw ako, inabangan ko daw si Janella from Elmo (Magalona). This is all wrong. This whole issue got really big,” he said.
Salvador was previously in a relationship with Magalona, who she accused of having physically hurt her on two separate occasions when they were still together.
It’s not clear whether Salvador and Magalona are on speaking terms outside of their joint work commitments, but in her Philippine Daily Inquirer interview revealing the altercation, the actress said she prefers to no longer work with her former boyfriend.
“We built something beautiful – our friendship, our relationship – but some beautiful things need to come to an end,” she said at the time. (ABS-CBN News)
