BACOLOD City – A man who had been arrested over illegal drugs in 2017 was shot dead in front of a motorcycle shop in Barangay 1, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
Joey Nillosan – a resident of Hinigran – was shot around 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday, a police report showed.
Nillosan had been arrested on Sept. 9, 2017 in an antidrug operation staged by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit led by Senior Inspector Mario Formento and the municipal police station in Purok 2, Barangay Quiwi, Hinigaran.
Aside from illegal drugs, a .45-caliber pistol loaded with live bullets was also seized from Nillosan during the arrest, which led to his detention.
It was however not immediately clear how Nillosan got out of prison.
Chief Inspector Jake Barila, Hinigaran police chief, said they have yet to identify the suspect in shooting Nillosan.
But they were able to recover two big sachets of suspected shabu valued at around P100,000 from Nillosan’s motorcycle tool box, Barila added.
Investigation to determine the motive in the shooting was ongoing./PN
