ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is now well-prepared for the opening of classes for school year 2014-2015.
ICPO director, Senior Supt. Ruperto Floro said maximum personnel will be deployed to all schools.
He also expressed support to the project of Department of Education (DepEd) called Brigada Eskwela – an activity that enlists the help of parents and barangays in cleaning schools prior to the resumption of classes.
Both uniformed police personnel and plainclothesmen have been tasked for detail in school premises, bus terminals and business establishments.
“We have to send more personnel to business establishments as we expect more customers to go there to buy school supplies and school uniforms,” Floro said.
DepEd’s annual school maintenance program Brigada Eskwela will begin tomorrow.
Part of the program will include a caravan starting at the Division of Iloilo City and ending at Jaro National High School.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and DepEd regional director, Dr. Mildred Garay will lead the opening ceremony.
Also participating are teachers, parents, students, representatives of private companies and non-government organizations.
Floro, meanwhile, warned shoppers to be careful of their personal belongings and secure their money when going to business establishments.
“Parents should accompany their daughter or son in going to school for enrollment because lawless elements may take advantage of them. If there are suspicious-looking persons in the school premises they may call our personnel who are detailed in school,” Floro said./PN
