ILOILO City – Mayor Jose “Joe” Espinosa III suspended classes in public and private schools in the city tomorrow, Jan. 28, a day after Dinagyang Festival 2019.

Espinosa issued Executive Order No. 010-2019 dated Jan. 25 ordering the cancellation of classes at all levels.

The mayor issued the order “considering that the students and teachers will surely feel tired after the event” and “the stages, platforms and other structures… are yet to be removed” that day.

He added that students and teachers need rest before going back to school.

According to Espinosa, he sought approval from the Department of Education’s Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Clarissa G. Zamora and Commission on Higher Eduction Region 6 director Dr. Maura Consolacion D. Cristobal before issuing the order./PN
