MANILA – A mainstay at the Philippines men’s football team and a former NCAA standout were among the new players the Ceres Negros FC have signed up ahead of their campaign this year.
The Negros Occidental-based football club recently announced the acquisition of Azkals defender Alvaro Silva and former Davao Aguilas FC goal keeper Ronilio Bayan Jr.
The 34-year-old Silva was a first timer in Philippines club tourney after spending the early part of football career with La Liga club Málaga CF. He then went to Asia to play for Hanoi FC in Vietnam and in Kedah FA in Malaysia.
“Very happy to announce my signing with Ceres, for the next two years. a new challenge and the same illusion that when I started in professional football 15 years ago,” Silva said.
The Nasugbu, Batangas-native Bayan, on the other hand, was already a decorated player in high school after winning NCAA best goalkeeper award while playing for Arellano University.
Bayan also won numerous titles and personal accolades while at the College of St. Benilde Blazers football team in the seniors before moving to the Aguilas, where he stayed for a year.
The reigning Philippines Football League champions earlier acquired the services of Miguel Tanton from Kaya Iloilo, Dylan De Bruycker from Aguilas, and Dennis Villanueva and Angelo Marasigan from Global Cebu.
Meanwhile, 38-year-old goal keeper Toni Doblas joined the list of Ceres-Negros who wil not be part of their 2019 campaign aside from Manuel Ott, Patrick Reichelt and Jerry Barbaso./PN
