BACOLOD City – The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has recently acquired heavy equipment worth P18 million.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia turned over to the CDRRMO a P13-million backhoe loader and a P5-million dump truck at the Bacolod City Government Center on Jan. 29.

Executive Assistant Jose Maria Vargas said the Hidromek backhoe loader has a payloader, concrete breaker and a rock crusher.

CDRRMO officer-in-charge Dondon Parandas said the backhoe loader and the dump truck will be of “big help” to their operations.

The dump truck, for example, can be used in evacuating stranded people during disasters, Parandas said.

He added that the CDRRMO will maximize the use of the heavy equipment which were purchased using the 2018 city budget.

The City Engineering Office will temporarily use the backhoe loader and the dump truck in its maintenance operations.

The CDRRMO is also planning to purchase a rapid response vehicle, a boom truck and additional closed-circuit television cameras, Vargas added./PN
