ILOILO City – Three individuals died in two separate vehicular accidents in Iloilo province on Wednesday night.
Two of the casualties were teachers at the Iloilo State College of Fisheries in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo. They were identified as Nelson Gatinao of Barangay Palaypay, Anilao, Iloilo and Glen Dalisay of Barangay Poblacion, Leganes, Iloilo.
They were involved in the first accident that happened around 7 p.m. in Barangay Balabag, Dumangas, Iloilo.
Dalisay was on board a motorcycle driven by the 35-year-old Gatinao bound for Iloilo City when a passenger bus driven by Rey Estrebillo crashed against them, according to Police Officer 3 Mike Dumaguin of the Dumangas police station.
The approaching truck driven by Pablo Pransiliso of Barangay Tambal, Janiuay, Iloilo also hit the teachers who were already on the ground, Dumaguin added.
Because of the impact, Pransiliso sustained an injury on his right knee and was confined at Dumangas District Hospital.
Estrebilolo, on the other hand, was detained in the lockup cell of the Dumangas police station.
He faces charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and physical injuries.
Two hours later, another crash was recorded in Oton, Iloilo.
The crash involved the 39-year-old Barangay Sta. Monica, Oton resident Ronald Tamayo, who died after the motorcycle he was driving crashed against a parked Ford Ranger pick-up owned by Rhodora Gelonga.
Tamayo’s back rider – the 37-year-old Jeremy Tabaculde, also a resident of Sta. Monica – was injured.
Tamayo died of head and body injuries at Guimbal District Hospital while Tabaculde – who sustained body injuries – was confined at Western Visayas Medical Center./PN
