STI-West Negros sweeps NBTC-Bacolod titles

THE STI-West Negros University Mustangs swept all the division titles in the Chooks-to-Go National Basketball Training Center 3X3 basketball tournament Bacolod at the St. John’s Institute in Bacolod City.

STI-WNU B pulled away with couple of shots beyond the arc to score a 13-8 victory over the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod and capture the under-18 (born 2001) division championship.

On their way to the championship round, the STI-WNU B dominated STI-WNU A, 21-7 while USLS survived Bacolod Tay Tung High School, 14-12 in the other semifinal match.

STI-WNU B, on the other hand, escaped USLS B, 17-15 in overtime in the under 20 (born 1999) finals.

Both teams exchanged baskets from the opening whistle to the final buzzer where they ended up, 15-all at the end of the regulation.

During the semifinals round, STI-WNU B downed USLS A, 14-7 while USLS B survived over University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, 10-8 on a buzzer-beating shot.

The winner of the NBTC-Bacolod leg, which was supervised by SBP provincial head Tony Agustin and Commissioner Bobby Tee, will advanced to the national finals, whose schedule is yet to be finalized./PN
