Sta. Clarita, St. Robert’s in NBTC Iloilo leg finals

SANTA Clarita International School Primes and St. Robert’s International Academy Panda Rockets reached the Chooks To Go-SM National Basketball Training Center-Iloilo leg finals after beating their semifinals foes on Wednesday at the Western Institute of Technology gym.

The Primes barged to the gold medal round after a lopsided 102-59 victory over the Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix, while the Panda Rockets cruised to a 79-76 win over University of San Agustin.

Jemar Cepriano led the way with 21 points, while Wilmer Dalumpines added 20 markers for the Primes. Veterans Ralph Bajon and Franc Steven Tono also did their share in the lopsided win.

“It’s a total team effort for us. I am glad at nasunod ng mga players ‘yung gameplan namin,” said Primes head coach Rodel Camacho. “We will now start preparing for the Panda Rockets. Hindi kami pwede maging complacent even if we beat them before.”

In the other semifinals match, the Panda Rockets took advantage of SanAg’s poor shooting to escape with the upset win. Gwyn Miles Pendon had 20 points, while Kent John Parrenas added 14 markers for the winning team.

The winner of the Primes-Panda Rockets finale, which is being played as of presstime last night, will advance to the Regional Finals in Capiz against the qualifiers from Roxas leg, Antique and Guimaras./PN
