BACOLOD City – Suspected shabu valued at around P36,000 was recovered in an antidrug operation in Barangay 2, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
The suspected illegal drugs contained in five plastic sachets were confiscated from 31-year-old “high-value” drug target Herondio Aguirre, a police report showed.
Aguirre – who the police said is a member of the Virtucio Drug Group – was arrested inside a pension house along Mondragon Street in Barangay 2 around 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday.
The suspect – a cellphone technician from Purok Calumpang, Barangay 1, San Carlos City – was caught with the 24-year-old Mary Joy Chiu, who was also inside the pension house.
Aside from the suspected drugs, a .38-caliber gun loaded with five live bullets, two cellphones and drug paraphernalia were also confiscated, police said.
Antidrug personnel from the San Carlos City police station caught Aguirre after the latter sold shabu to a poseur-buyer for P300 earlier that day.
Aguirre and Chiu were detained in the San Carlos City police station custodial facility.
Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the election gun ban were filed against them./PN
